GODFATHER - A TURN BACK

                        May be after a long time break, "I'M BACK"..My days with Harry Potter had gone reading each book till death and now in holidays i was in search of a really good book to equip my leisure..thats when i got view of the Mario Puzo's work..GOD FATHER, a book of 1969 about Don Corleone, the lord of Cosa Nostra... The book i opened was tanned brown as if it was basking in sun for years...

A long book about the mafia chief Don Corleone who turns into God father like how Rajini Kandh turns into a billionaire in a song..It spins round and round the mafia world and extends to Las Vegas, Sicily,Long Island,Cosa Nostra,New York,Chicago and more..the Sicilian law of Omertà - the law of silence,  keeps the book moving till the end..the book portrays Don Corleone, the God Father who claims friendship with ever man and has his favour done when he needs..the tactical mind,reasonable speech,generosity,good heart of the mafia cheif makes 3/4 th of the book along with murders,corruption and money..

The son of man who is murdered by the mafia chief in Sicily avenges his father's death at the age of twelve years is sent to New York by his mother as Italian Hostage.He  marries a devoted Italian girl.Due to certain inevitability he murders Fannuci, a notorious gambler to save his 700$.he then becomes a 'man of respect' among the Italian people in New York.People fly to him for all their needs and Vito Corleone without hesitation would help every man claiming his friendship.He grows to be an Olive Oil business man,mafia chief and then earns the title  GODFATHER.his comrades Clemenza and Tessio whose loyalty could not be tested in turn become his caporegime.He gains Luca Brasi,a man who fears nothing except the Don as his right hand and Tom Hagen, an Irish guy as his  consilagiro .

When the Don is shot by Sollazo, the Turk ( drug trade),Santino Corleone his son takes the regime.He turns into a man to be feared for his temper and blood thirstiness.He plots against the Turk and murders him with his younger brother Michael Corleone who is then sent away to Sicily.Michael mets his thunderbolt Appollonia and courts her.She flies to Heaven soon in a trap bomb set for Michael.In the meanwhile Corleone helps his Godson,Johnny Fontanne a Hollywood actor  and Singer to win the Academy Award.His second son Freedie Corleone proves inutile to follow his father's steps and turns him Down.

Santino Corleone loses his temper when he hears his younger sister Connie Corleone is mistreated by her husband Carlo.On an attempt to beat Carlo,Santino is shot down by enemies from Tattalgia family. Michael Corleone becomes the Don and retrieves the declining Corleone Family with his father.He finds the black sheep who fngered Santino to death - Carlo and he is sent to Heaven.Michael proves to be efficient and tactical to be the successor of Don,The GODFATHER.


The Don dies of heart attack in the hands of his son, Michael uttering "Life is beautiful" (yeah it is !!!)
 Having responsibilities shouldered on him, Michael turns to be the DON,the GODFATHER...


In short, a book about mafia,war among the families in power,trade,money, murders,ambition,friendship,betrayal,treachery,omerta the book provides a wonderful reading though a very long book..( took a week of ma holidays to finish it ....) and to not to forget about the movies of God Father directed by Francis Ford Coppola, who brought the fiction Mafia Don alive...
